Norway's largest exhibition of glacial archaeological finds
More than half of all archaeological finds on ice in the whole world, have been made high in the mountains around Lom. The ice has worked as a reliable hiding place. More than 4,000 objects from the people who lived here before us have been preserved in the ice. Objects made of wood, leather, bone, metal and wool. A 6,000-year-old arrow, a snowshoe for horses, a mitten from the Viking Age, a dog with its collar and the world's best-preserved prehistoric pair of skis have all had their years in the ice.
The ice is monitored, and new discoveries have been saved, through a glacial archaeology safeguarding program under the auspices of Innlandet county council and the Museum of Cultural History in Oslo. At the Norwegian Mountain Center you can see 100 of the objects they have found in a completely new light, in the exhibition Frozen in Time.
SCIENCE CENTER AND WEATHER ROOM
Feel the wind, rain and thunder in the weather room. Shape the landscape with your own hands by using water and sand, and learn about geology, weather and climate.
VISITOR CENTER NATIONAL PARKS
Get tips for your mountain hike, buy the maps you need, and sit down by the fire before you visit the mountains. The Norwegian Mountain Center is a visitor center for the national parks Jotunheimen, Reinheimen and Breheimen.
INTO THE GLACIER?
At the foot of mount Galdhøpiggen, you can walk into a 365 square meter big world of ice. The spectacular ice tunnel is hand-carved with sculptures inspired by Norse mythology, and a cinema hall. You walk over permafrost and learn about climate changes and high land nature on the way. We offer guided tours two and three times daily throughout the summer. Read more and buy tickets here.

CLIMATE PARK AND ICE TUNNEL
Explore the past in the present in the ice tunnel by Galdhøpiggen: 70 meters into the ice - 7000 years back in time. Learn about nature, wildlife and humans living in the highlands. SECRETS OF THE ICE
The scale of the archaeological material from glaciers and ice patches in Oppland became visible during the big melt in the fall of 2006. From this year we have worked continuous with the rescue of finds from the ice. Follow the exiting work of the glacier archaeologists her! At the mountain center we exhibit newly found materials.
